About

What DeskConsensus is

DeskConsensus helps you choose gear for your desk and workspace without the guesswork. Over time we’ll cover the things that make a desk setup work, from audio and video-call gear to keyboards, mice, monitors, lighting and accessories. Each guide is comparison-based and says which option fits which person.

We’re starting with earbuds and headsets with a microphone for laptops, PCs and video calls.

How we work

We do not run our own lab tests. Instead, we do what a careful buyer would do with unlimited time: compare manufacturer specs, read independent lab measurements and reviews from established testing outlets, and note what owners report after real use where public discussions exist. Where those sources agree, we have a recommendation. Where they disagree, we tell you.

Our full process is on the methodology page.

Why we do it this way

Owner feedback can show how products hold up over time. Lab data shows what a single sample can do under controlled conditions. Specs show what will and won’t work with your setup. No single source tells the whole story, so we combine them and focus on patterns rather than one-off opinions.

How we make money

DeskConsensus is new and doesn’t currently earn money from the links on this site. We may join affiliate programs such as the Amazon Associates Program in future. If we do, we’ll say so clearly, and commissions will never influence our recommendations. We never accept payment for placement. Details are on our disclosure page.

What we won’t do

  • Claim we personally tested a product when we didn’t.
  • Show star ratings or scores that imply measurements we haven’t made.
  • Recommend a product because of what it might pay us.
  • Hide a product’s common problems.
